Piece for 'Plan B Art Project' by Brice Garrett
Materials: Resin, Tahitian Pearls, Pearls Sterling Silver, Stainless Steel cord
Dimensions: 18" L x 1.5" W
About the piece:
"I’m fascinated with how jewelry can be so loud and public facing yet also initiate and personal. With jewelry’s proximity to the body there is always a side hidden and kept only for the wearer. I often create jewelry that thinks about this position and can be worn in different ways. In the necklace ‘Her Body, Her Choice’ I want the wearer to choose whether to be personal and abstract or overt in its messaging. Thinking about amphora as a revolving vessel, I manipulated text into loose amphora silhouettes and sliced off a portion of each bead to expose the revolving shapes. A secret message intended for the wearer's knowledge only."
