Jeong Ju Lee
"My work focuses on the potential for steel mesh to create three-dimensional sculptural jewelry. I discovered that when two sheets of wire mesh overlap with distance, they create beautiful patterns and geometry, giving the illusion that there might be something else in between. In my work, more than two layers of sheet mesh are stacked together in order to invent new forms or patterns."
Jeong Ju Lee is featured in our Summer 2022 exhibition "From These Hands" alongside Xinia Guan, Joanne Thompson, and So Young Park. Traditional jewelry making is a metal based practice, and we pride ourselves on the cutting edge, contemporary craftsmanship of our artists. We've selected four artists that we feel exemplify unique modes of metalsmithing and jewelry making. The artists we've selected represent the next wave of metal.
