Rebecca Ilett - TV Dinner Brooch

Precious Collective

$4,395.00

UK-based artist Rebecca Ilett's Things Unsaid collection features four brooches created using objects and materials from her collection of archival materials. TV Dinner Brooch is inspired by food remembered from the seventies where food choice was very much limited. The margarine statement comes from a vintage children’s Ladybird book which states ‘Some people don't know the difference between butter and margarine’ and refers to a law passed in 1928 where margarine must be labelled ‘Margarine’ so people knew what they were buying. Rebecca wanted to include this on a worn piece as it seems an incongruous message to include on a piece of conventional jewelry. A fleeting trivial detail that has been long forgotten, resurrected into an age where everything edible is available. Is it food or a collection of sympathetic materials?

Materials: Sterling Silver, Druzy, Polymer Clay, Enamel, Steel

Size: Approximately 3" in length, 1.25" in width and 0.5" in depth
