During her return to Japan this April, Naoko Yoshizawa traveled across the country, observing and exploring various places and landscapes deeply rooted in traditional Japanese culture. Among the many cultural impressions she encountered, what resonated most deeply with her was not the ornate beauty of ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), but rather the quiet, unassuming presence of chabana-the flowers placed in the space of a tea ceremony. For this exhibition, she was inspired by the aesthetic philosophy of wabi-sabi in the tea ceremony and the tranquil, refined presence of chabana, and created works that reflect these sensibilities.
